SAFEGUARDING
At Highland Perthshire Plus (HPP), we work with vulnerable people every day, whether that be through additional support need or disability and as such safeguarding is very important to us.
Safeguarding is defined as,
“Protecting a citizen's health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. Safeguarding children, young people and adults is a collective responsibility.”

PVG checks and training
The Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is “managed by Disclosure Scotland. It helps ensure people who are unsuitable to work with children and protected adults cannot do regulated work with these vulnerable groups.” Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme – mygov.scot
All of the management committee of HPP are PVG checked as are key volunteers and group leaders to ensure we are meeting our legal requirements to protect those we work with and for.
In addition, committee members, key volunteers and group leaders are either required or are encouraged to obtain training in child protection, adult protection, first aid and food hygiene depending on their role and involvement.
Please ask if you would be interested in any training through HPP.
GDPR
“GDPR stands for General Data Protection Legislation. It is a European Union (EU) law that came into effect on 25th May 2018. GDPR governs the way in which we can use, process, and store personal data (information about an identifiable, living person).” What is GDPR in simple terms? – DeltaNet (delta-net.com)
Protecting people’s privacy is also something that we at HPP take seriously. No personal data is held on group members, other than their contact details for the purposes of sharing information as discussed at the time that members sign up. This data is never shared unless asked to do so by the member concerned and again will only be for the purposes of networking within the group.
Further details of those who require PVG checks and/or training will be held in line with the guidance outlined in the GDPR and as guided by the rules of the PVG scheme and/or training bodies but these details will only be held by the Safeguarding/Data Protection Officer and will not be shared unless required to do so for legal purposes.
